Holmberg joins Responsive Leadership Initiative Board of Directors

Nelson Holmberg has been added to the Board of Directors of Responsive Leadership Initiative, Executive Director Paul Montague recently announced. 

“Responsive Leadership Initiative is pleased that Nelson Holmberg is joining our board of directors,” said Montague. “Nelson’s diverse career gives Nelson a solid, thoughtful and balanced perspective that will complement our current board and support RLI’s long term goal of identifying, developing and supporting moderate elected leaders in Southwest Washington.”

Holmberg is a veteran public and media relations executive, who has worked in both the public and private sectors, including five years as a daily newspaper reporter. He currently heads up BergerABAM’s public involvement practice in the firm’s Vancouver office as senior public involvement project manager.

His career spans more than 25 years and includes relationships with influential reporters and editors. Holmberg’s focus is on down-to-earth messaging and strategic planning. 



Holmberg was previously executive director at the Port of Woodland (2010-2014), and communications manager at the Port of Vancouver (2007-2010). His career includes executive stints as the head of communications offices at the Port of Vancouver USA, the World Baseball Classic (2006), Portland Power, and Atlanta Glory. His professional experience also includes work as the senior PR account manager at Koopman Ostbo Marketing Communications. He has been recognized with awards throughout his career and has been commended by his colleagues for his results in working with the media. 

Holmberg is a 2008 graduate of Leadership Clark County and a 1995 graduate of Washington State University. He and his wife Dawn have two grown daughters and two grandchildren. 

Responsive Leadership was formed to fill a need in our community for balance, responsiveness and accountability from our elected leaders, and its mission is the promotion of responsive leadership in Clark County that recognizes the value of economic development as a tool for attracting businesses, growing jobs and enhancing quality of life. RLI promotes the economic development agenda developed by local countywide business organizations, while also developing, training and supporting moderate elected representatives who promote economic development in Southwest Washington.
