The Washington State Department of Ecology presented the City of Woodland with the 2012 Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award. This marks the ninth time the city has received the award in the last 13 years.

“It takes diligent operators and a strong management team working together to achieve this high level of compliance,” said DOE Program Manager Kelly Susewind in the award letter. “It is not easy to operate a wastewater treatment plant 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without any violations.”

The Woodland plant achieved a perfect record and also was in full compliance with national standards for the 2012 year.

Woodland Mayor Grover Laseke complimented Superintendent Mark Morgan and plant operator Derek Amburgey for their work in earning the award.

“Morgan and Amburgey are providing the citizens of Woodland with a professionally run and efficient operating plant,” said Laseke.

Woodland Public Works Director Bart Stepp also credited his colleagues as, “diligent and tireless workers in their duties to the plant.”

The existing wastewater plant was completed in 2002 and is capable of expanding to meet the needs of the City for the next 20 years.
