In 1949, Chris Miller began selling insurance on Battle Ground’s Main Street. The following year, he affiliated his company with Farmers Insurance and thus began a legacy that is alive and well 62 years later.
Today, the Miller Agency is owned and operated by Dave Miller, son of Chris, and by the end of the year Dave will pass it on to his son Bryce, continuing decades of service to the community.
Five years after he began his business, Miller moved it into the family home on Main St., and today his son and grandson are continuing service from that same location.
“Just like I did with my Dad, Bryce has built his own agency, we’re sharing office space, but by the end of the year, also like I did with my father, we’ll be merging our companies and he’ll take over,’’ Dave Miller said. “After that, I’ll work for him.”
Both Millers have degrees in management, sales and marketing and the senior partner, Dave, has served on the City Council, School Board, Chamber of Commerce and Lewis River Rotary. To date, Bryce’s community involvement has centered around his church.
When asked why he followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Bryce was quick with an answer, “Growing up with my father as an example and a great role model, I decided that serving the community and local families was exactly how I wanted to spend my life.”
Dave added, “Living in Battle Ground offers us a good living in a small town where we can actually make a difference in peoples lives. It’s a place where family and community really matter and where we can help people, make our living, and have time to enjoy all that the community offers with our families.”
As two of Farmers’ 16,000 agents around the country, the Millers have made a name for themselves, not only locally and regionally, as they were named one of the top 10 agencies in Washington in 2011 and in 2008 were rated by Farmers as the 13th most successful agency in the country.
The Miller Agency offers full service to their customers providing auto, homeowner, recreational vehicle, business and umbrella policies as well as offering The Life Advantage, which is financial security counseling that considers customers “wants, needs and hopes for a secure future for your family.” In addition, they have Farmers annuities that helps, customers grow their money tax-deferred with lifetime incomes.
“We offer our customers stability, longevity, with our seasoned and knowledgeable staff, and we truly appreciate and value our role in serving hometown customers,’’ said Dave. “Most of our business comes from referrals from our current clients and we’re quite happy growing internally instead of the expansion that has been suggested in the past. We love it here and plan to be around for another couple of generations.”
