Kaiser Permanente Northwest celebrates opening of new BG Office

Kaiser Permanente is pleased to join the Battle Ground community with the opening of its Battle Ground Medical Office, at 720 W. Main St., on June 6. To mark the occasion, Mayor Philip Johnson and other community members joined some of the new Battle Ground physicians and staff for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Debbie Karman, senior consultant, public relations for Kaiser Permanente, said more than 250 people attended the event to check out the new clinic.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout,” Karman said. “The people who attended seem to be excited about seeing a physician in Battle Ground, rather than driving to Vancouver.”

As part of its mission to help care for underserved community members, Kaiser Permanente also donated $10,000 to Battle Ground HealthCare, a clinic that provides free primary care services to low-income, uninsured adults.

“Our Battle Ground members now have the option of seeing a physician closer to home,” said James Tan, MD, one of Kaiser Permanente’s new Battle Ground family practice physicians. “Our physicians and staff are looking forward to getting to know our new neighbors and providing the high-quality, connected care our members value.”

“The new Battle Ground Kaiser Permanente clinic is a welcome addition to our city,” said Battle Ground Mayor Philip Johnson. “We recognize their investment in Battle Ground and their commitment to members who live and work in our community.”

Each year, Kaiser Permanente makes a significant investment in the health of the Clark County community, through programs that provide care for the underserved, promote healthy eating and active living, facilitate education and research, build relationships with community partners, and engage employees in the community.

“It’s an honor to be chosen by Kaiser Permanente to receive the Outstanding Community Partner Award. This donation will be used to help Battle Ground HealthCare support the part-time positions of a dental assistant and volunteer coordinator, both of which are vital to the ongoing success of the organization,” said Sue Neal, executive director of Battle Ground HealthCare. “We are grateful to Kaiser Permanente for this generous gift and the partnership and commitment we share in building a healthier community.”

In addition to housing four primary care providers, the office will feature on-site lab services and a separate room for minor medical procedures. It will also have a telemedicine room, where patients can have video appointments with Kaiser Permanente specialists, saving them a drive to another location. The office will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
