ROBERT FELLOWS
Robert Fellows, 91, died Aug. 14, 2007, in Vancouver.
Fellows was born April 13, 1916, in Wood, SD, and lived in Brush Prairie. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed mechanical work and often helped neighbors in any way that he could. He has worked in farming and agriculture.
Fellows was preceded in death by son Roy Fellows. Survivors include widow Virginia Porter, daughters Kathy Carr and Rita Carlson, both of Vancouver, Etta Fellows of Brush Prairie, and Betty Reed of Lacey, sons Richard Fellows and Robert Fellows, both of Brush Prairie, Raymond Fellows of Alaska, Allen Stanley of Camas and John Stanley of Washougal, brothers Milo Fellows and Clifford Fellows, both of Oregon, and Melvin Fellows of California, sister Ermadean Hinsdale of Woodland, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

WALLACE FERBER
Wallace “Wally” George Ferber, 82, died Jan. 26, 2008, in Vancouver.
Ferber was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Portland, graduated from Woodland High School in 1943, and from Whitman College in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Ferber had lived in Portland and Milwaukee, OR, and then in Woodland the last 20 years.
Ferber was employed for many years with the Oregon Insurance Rating Bureau as a fire insurance underwriter and office manager. He and his wife enjoyed many trips to Nevada to play the slot machines.
Survivors include widow June Ferber, at home, sons Richard Ferber of Brush Prairie and Gary Ferber of Oregon, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Frank Abel Cemetery, Woodland, with the Woodland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
ELEANOR FINN
Eleanor “Ellie” Mae (Howell) Finn, 81, died Sept. 13, 2006, in Bremerton.
Finn was born April 19, 1925, in Battle Ground, grew up in Battle Ground and Fargher Lake, and graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1944. She had previously graduated from the Washington School for the Deaf.
Finn was an avid reader. She volunteered at a childrens’ hospital. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, dancing and crafts. She was a member of the Elks.
Finn was preceded in death by brother Edward Howell, and sister Jane Howell Dunn. Survivors include daughters Diana Adair of North Carolina and Linda Brock of Issaquah, son Cecil Finn of View, sister Grace Shirley of Oregon and Minnie McClellan of View, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Elks Club in Bremerton.
CAROL FINNEGAN
Carol Jean (Zwiefelhofer) Finnegan, 72, died May 6, 2007, in Vancouver.
Finnegan was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Boyd, Wisconsin. She lived in Clark County for 47 years, the last 10 years in Yacolt.
Finnegan enjoyed watching television, old black and white movies, and keeping house.
Finnegan was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Finnegan, in 1987, and brother Walt Zwiefelhofer in 2000. Survivors include sons Charlie Finnegan of Yacolt and Mike Finnegan of Oregon, daughters Orinne Jones of California, Mary Ellis of Oregon and Joan Finnegan of Vancouver, brothers Jerry Zwiefelhofer, Allen Zwiefelhofer, Jim Zwiefelhofer and Alfred Zwiefelhofer, all of California, and Darrell Zwiefelhofer of Oregon, sister Alice Adams of Arlington, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Yacolt Cemetery, Yacolt, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.
JANINE FISHER
Janine (Morrison) Fisher, 40, died March 4, 2008, in Portland, following a three year struggle with a rare disease.
Fisher was born April 26, 1967, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and had lived in Spokane, Vancouver and White Salmon, and the last 12 years in Battle Ground. She had attended Clark College. She enjoyed karaoke and her children.
Fisher had worked as an apartment manager.
Survivors include sons William Morrison of Battle Ground and Marcus Morrison of Vancouver, daughter Hannah Morrison of Portland, step-daughters Emily Darlington and Erica Darlington, both of Portland, father John Morrison Sr. of New Mexico, mother Audrey Hairston of Battle Ground, brothers John Morrison Jr. and Jerome Morrison, both of Battle Ground, step-sister Amanda Morrison of Tacoma, significant other Eric Darlington of Portland, and honored family member Mica Thompson of Battle Ground.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, with Evergreen Staples Funeral Home, Vancouver, in charge of cremation.
LOIS FISHER
Lois Jane (Collins) Fisher, 84, died Jan. 12, 2007, in Vancouver.
Fisher was born March 8, 1922, in Anchorage, AK, and lived in Vancouver for the past 40 years. She served in the U.S. Army, and worked as both a bartender and a clerical worker. She loved to dance.
Survivors include daughter Jane Pace of Longview, brother Donald Webb of Longview, sisters Edna Molisky of Longview and Helen of Montana, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
No services will be held, with Northwood Park Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
WILLIAM FLEMING JR.
William “Bill” Arthur Fleming Jr., 84, died Jan. 8, 2008, in Vancouver.
Fleming was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Portland, and lived most of his life in Clark County.
Fleming served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Cedar Creek, and Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, reading, garage sales and the outdoors.
Fleming worked for Weyerhaeuser in Longview and Portland Public Works. He retired after 20 years with the Washington Department of Transportation.
Fleming was preceded in death by his daughter Anita Stephens, and grandsons Joel Stephens and Grady Stephens. Survivors include widow Marge Fleming, at home in Vancouver, son William A. Fleming III of La Center, step-daughter Karen Rice of Vancouver, step-son Kenneth Irwin of Vancouver, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
No services are planned, with Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home, Kelso, in charge of arrangements.
RODNEY FLINDT
Rodney Otto Flindt, 72, died Jan. 13, 2008, in Longview.
Flindt was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Malta, MT, lived in White Salmon, grew up in The Dalles, OR, and lived in Woodland for 47 years.
Flindt loved animals, mechanics, hunting, fishing, camping, racing motorcycles, and the outdoors. He loved his family. He was known for his smile and his two miniature pinschers, Tia and Missy. He owned and operated Rod Flindt Trucking.
Flindt was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Flindt Jr., in 1982. Survivors include wife of 47 years Darlene Flindt, at home, son Marty Flindt of Woodland, daughters Vickie McCall of The Dalles, Rhonda Holzer of Woodland, Kim Sperling of Lyle, Diane Youngblood of La Center, and Jamie Graves of Troutlake, half-brothers Andrew Rupp of Florida and Charles Rupp of Rochester, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Lone Pine Cemetery, Woodland, with the Woodland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
MARY FLUMAN
Mary Veronica (Banderschee) Fluman, 62, died Oct. 29, 2007, in Vancouver.
Fluman was born Aug. 6, 1945, in Rotterdam, Holland, and lived in Battle Ground for 13 years. She was a member of the Clark County Kennel Club. She enjoyed raising dogs, showing collies, painting and traveling. She worked as an optician at Kaiser Permanente for many years in Cascade Park.
Fluman was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fluman, in 1992. Survivors include daughters Marlyse McKenzie and Noelle Fluman, both of Battle Ground, and Dr. Krystyna Fluman of Missouri.

BROOKE FOLEY
Brooke Katherine Foley, 2 1/2, died of Ewing’s Sarcoma June 7, 2007, in Yacolt.
Foley was born Nov. 1, 2004, in Litchfield, MN. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Foley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clifford T. Foley Sr., in 1997. Survivors include parents Douglas and Elsa Foley, at home, brothers Landon Foley, Wyatt Foley, Morgan Foley and Layson Foley, all at home, sisters Jozlynn Foley, Oryanna Foley and Chloe Foley, all at home, grandmother Marjory Foley of Ridgefield, grandparents Edward and Edith Maki of Michigan, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tues., June 12, 11 a.m., at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 32320 NE Lewisville Hwy, Battle Ground, with burial at Yacolt Cemetery. Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, is in charge of arrangements.
NICK FONTANA
Nick Fontana, 87, died April 22, 2008, in Vancouver.
Fontana was born July 29, 1920, in Herndon, West Virginia, and lived in Vancouver for 64 years.
Fontana enjoyed raising and training hunting dogs, hunting, fishing, gardening, working in his shop, and family and church activities.
Fontana served in the U.S. Navy during World War II 1942-1945. He had worked as a tool and die maker with Boeing in Portland.
Fontana was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillian, in 2001, brothers Lee Fontana, Mike Fontana, Pat Fontana and Johnny Fontana, and sisters Mary, Josie and Camilla. Survivors include daughters Lynda Staley of Vancouver and Donna Fontana-Smith of Oregon, son James Fontana of Alaska, brothers James Fontana of Pennsylvania and Thomas Fontana of West Virginia, sisters Caroline Toritino, Anna Paine and Lenore Kaiser, all of West Virginia, and Esther Chamberlain of Vancouver, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Inturnment was at St. John’s Cemetery, with Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home, Vancouver, in charge of arrangements.
RODERICK FORREST
Roderick “Pete” Forrest III, 43, died in a motorcycle accident April 4, 2007, in Brush Prairie.
Forrest was born Feb. 13, 1964, in Spokane, and lived his entire life in Clark County, the past seven years in Vancouver.
Forrest enjoyed riding motorcycles and being with his family. He was a member of the Lt. Pearson Modelers Club in Vancouver and enjoyed modeling. He had invented modeler’s tools.
Forrest worked as an installer of pools and woodstoves.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, Roderick Forrest II and Linda (Nichols). Survivors include daughters Lauren Fox, Lattisha Fox, Libby Fox and Lilly Fox, all of Venersborg, brothers Dean Zack, Dana Zack and David Zack, all of Vancouver and Jason Zack of Port Townsend, sisters Syndy Forrest-Carras, Debi Stackhouse, Pattie Forrest and Jo Lynn May, all of Vancouver, special companion Kathy Miller of Brush Prairie, and 23 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Lewisville Park, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.
THELMA FOSSAND
Thelma Rose (Glasgow) Fossand, 75, died March 21, 2008, in Vancouver.
Fossand was born June 21, 1932, in Shidler, OK, and lived in Clark County for 50 years, the last two years in La Center.
Fossand enjoyed bowling, square dancing, reading mysteries and watching Perry Mason. She was a staunch Democrat and enjoyed arguing politics. She was devoted to her family and loved her grandchild.
Fossand was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Fossand, in 1979. Survivors include widower Cardiff A. Fossand, at home, sons Cardiff S. Fossand of La Center and Keith Fossand of Battle Ground, brother Robert Glasgow of Alaska, granddaughter Margaret Fossand of Portland, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wed., March 26, 2 p.m., at Memory Memorial Park Cemetery, Vancouver, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.

GOLDIE FREWING
Goldie A. (Stevenson) Frewing, 100, died Sept. 5, 2007, in Ridgefield.
Frewing was born Sept. 12, 1906, in Portland, and lived in Ridgefield 1911-1991, then Vancouver 1991-2003, and the at Carolee’s Retirement Home in Ridgefield since 2003. She had also lived in Oregon.
Frewing attended Ridgefield schools, and played center on the Ridgefield women’s basketball team. She taught school in Dallas, OR, teachng all eight grades in one room. She worked as an on-site manager for a Salem, OR trap club, as a seamstress/dressmaker, and in the Ridgefield telephone office. She farmed strawberries and blueberries. She worked at Washington Co-op Cannery and as a substitute mail carrier. She also worked in the Elections and Licensing department of the courthouse 1963-1973.
Frewing was a member of the Ridgefield Garden Club, Ridgefield Bridge Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and 40 et 8 Auxiliary. She made sandwiches for soldiers from Ft. Vancouver for Saturday night dances at the American Legion Hall during World War II.
Frewing loved to sew, knit, crochet, tat, embroider, read, play bridge, grow flowers and travel.
Frewing was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Frewing in 1977, and sisters Gwendolyn Wells in 1932 and Audrey Dickerson in 1987. Survivors include daughter Patricia Jory of Nevada, two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sun., Sept. 23, 2 p.m., at Unity Church of Vancouver, 3813 Franklin St., Vancouver, with Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, in charge of arrangements.
JAKE FRY
Jake Loren Fry, 12, died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Feb. 27, 2007, in Portland.
Fry was born May 3, 1994, in Longview, and was a lifelong resident of Woodland. He loved to read and play video games. He wanted to invent. He worked on computers. He played the trumpet in band.
Fry also enjoyed fishing, swimming, rock collecting, and cars. He had many friends and liked to help people.
Fry was a seventh grade student at Woodland Middle School.
Survivors include mother Kathy Fry of Woodland, father Loren Fry of Woodland, grandmother Patricia Fry of Woodland, brother Sam Fry of Woodland and sister Tiffany Householder of Woodland.
Memorial services will be held Tues., March 6, 4 p.m., at Woodland Presbyterian Church, Woodland, with interment at Frank Abel Cemetery, Woodland. Layne’s Funeral Home, Battle Ground, is in charge of arrangements.
CHARLES FULLER
Charles A. Fuller, 93, died Nov. 27, 2006, in Vancouver.
Fuller was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Plainview, MN. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1933. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired as branch manager for Vancouver Federal Savings and Loan. He had also worked on the family dairy farm, Triple Mountain Dairy in Battle Ground, and at the cheese factory in Battle Ground.
Fuller was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fuller in 2004, and four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include sons Calvin Fuller of Washougal and Richard Fuller of Pullman, daughter Marilyn Wetterholm of California, sister Anita Resleff of Cheney, and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A memorial service will take place Sat., Dec. 9, 2 p.m., at Bethel Community Church, 15th and “B” streets, Washougal, with Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, in charge of arrangements.
